Jack and Jackie Kennedy were avid supporters of the visual and performing arts, and under his presidency developed positions that empowered the arts and gave a voice to architecture. They hosted White House parties in honor of famous artists, and JFK supported the creation of the GSA Art in Architecture Program to oversee the commission of artwork for the new Federal building, and created the position of Special Consultant on the Arts. This discussion focused on how Fort Worth welcomed President Kennedy with art in 1963 and the impact of governmental support on creation of art and architecture today. Panelists included Darren Woods, General Director Fort Worth Opera; David T. Little, Composer of JFK; and Andrew Walker, Amon Carter Director. View this program on YouTube.
