Although scheduled weeks in advance, this oral history recording with the famed NBC News broadcaster was almost canceled at the last moment. Breaking world news prompted Brokaw and his NBC News associates to rearrange their schedules on the day of our oral history appointment. Rather than cancel outright, Mr. Brokaw graciously sat down for a brief interview with me on the recognizable set of the NBC Nightly News. Only eight minutes long, this session with Tom Brokaw is among the shortest oral history interviews in the Collection, but it is nevertheless full of insight on the assassination of President Kennedy and its global impact. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
