Transcript of The State of Texas vs. Jack Rubenstein alias Jack Ruby, Hearing on Motion for New Trial. Phil Burleson, Joe Tonahill and Dr. Hubert Winston Smith represented defendant Jack Ruby. Henry Wade, Jim Bowie, Bill Alexander and James Williamson represented the State. Judge Joe B. Brown presiding.In this hearing, more than a month after a guilty verdict was reached in Ruby's trial for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, his defense team requested a new trial. The defense no longer included Melvin Belli. The judge denied defendant's requests for a new trial. At the end of the transcript, the defense notified the court of its intention to file a formal appeal.Transcript retains original covers; consists of 93 typed pages of onionskin paper. Each page has a printed footer that reads “Shirley M.
