J. Waymon Rose Oral History
Videotaped oral history interview with J. Waymon Rose. A U.S. Navy fighter pilot during World War II, Rose was a traveling salesman at the time of the assassination. In 1964, he was selected as the tenth person to serve on the jury for the Jack Ruby trial. He kept a detailed journal of his experiences, which he donated to The Sixth Floor Museum in 2002. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on June 12, 2002 by Gary Mack and Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and twenty-two minutes long.

J. Waymon Rose passed away at the age of 98 on October 29, 2020. After this initial oral history in 2002, Waymon and his lovely wife Ann became great friends of The Sixth Floor Museum. Later that year, the Roses generously donated the journals that they both kept during the Jack Ruby trial, Ann's collection of assassination and trial-related scrapbooks and other unique materials. Ann, who passed away in 2012, also recorded an oral history in 2004. Waymon returned to the Museum on numerous occasions, recording seven public and educational programs between 2004 and 2014, and recording a follow-up oral history in 2013. Waymon and family members also attended a number of exhibit openings and special events at the Museum over the years as the Roses became a significant part of our extended family. Waymon was a soft-spoken gentleman, extremely witty and extraordinarily generous with his time. He enjoyed interacting with students and teachers whenever he shared his experiences here. He and his beloved wife Ann are greatly missed.
