Image 3 from Negative Strip 31: Oswald (Fri) of Lee Harvey Oswald and a police officer

Original 120mm black and white negative taken by an unidentified Dallas Times Herald staff photographer. This image shows Lee Harvey Oswald, being escorted by Dallas Police Detective Elmer Boyd, in the elevator of the Dallas Police Department returing to the jail cell on the evening of November 22, 1963. The negative is on Kodak Safety Film. This image is labeled #3 on section 1 of negative strip 31.The old TMS record for the images on this negative strip did not identify a photographer. Based on research conducted by collections intern Mark Davies in June and July 2012, curatorial and collections staff concluded that Darryl Heikes could have taken these pictures but this has not been verified. (Katie Womack, 7/25/2013) Also noted at that 2012 curatorial meeting: the images on this strip were shot at a different time on Friday 11-22-63 than the images on image strip 30.
