Curatorial Note:

Although Christine Lavin's song, "The Sixth Floor," was released in 1995, Museum staff did not learn about it until around 2002 or 2003 when a member of our collections team heard it online. Some ten years later I reached out to Christine, requesting an oral history about the song and her childhood memories of the Kennedy assassination. She kindly agreed, and we first recorded a telephone interview in 2013. Exactly one year later, she was in Dallas as our guest for the 2014 Living History program series. She did two programs, recorded August 8 and 9, and the video seen here is a combination of those two presentations. At that time, Christine also recorded a new one-on-one video interview for the Oral History Collection. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
