Curatorial Note:

On November 1, 1963, after securing employment at the nearby Texas School Book Depository, Lee Harvey Oswald opened this P.O. box at the U.S. Post Office Terminal Annex in Dallas. Less than one week later, Jack Ruby rented P.O. Box 5475. While this has been the subject of research interest over the years, the Warren Commission in 1964 concluded that, despite both men having post office boxes in the same building, it was unlikely that they encountered each other due to their different daily schedules and Oswald's withdrawn personality. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
