Original black and white 5x4" negative of an image of the Kennedy motorcade taken on Lemmon Avenue by Dallas resident Richard Clark.The image shows President John F. Kennedy in the presidential limousine with Governor Connally seated in front of him; both men appear to be looking directly at the camera. The photograph was taken when the front of the limousine was passing the photographer. Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy and Mrs. Nellie Connally are also partially visible and Secret Service agents Roy Kellerman and William Greer can be seen in the front seat. On the left edge of the image is Secret Service agent Clint Hill. Crowds line the residential street across from the photographer.

Curatorial Note:

Richard Clark was a yearbook photographer at North Dallas High School, and he took this image of the Kennedy motorcade on Lemmon Avenue, near the Oak Lawn intersection. Back at his high school later that day, Clark also took a series of extraordinary images showing students listening to transistor radios and reacting to news of the president's death. Clark donated his photographs to The Sixth Floor Museum in 2003 and recorded an oral history in 2015. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
