Videotaped oral history interview with Willie Mae Coleman. Coleman grew up in a segregated neighborhood in south Dallas. A longtime African American community leader, she was involved in local civil rights activities during the 1960s. Interview conducted at Ms. Coleman's home in Dallas, TX on October 31, 2018 by Curator Stephen Fagin and C. Dealey Campbell, representing the Juanita Craft Interpretive Planning Committee. Even at age 87 in 2021, Coleman remains active in the local community. She is the longtime president of the Bertrand Neighborhood Association, a non-profit group that she co-founded in 2001.
