The Dallas Times Herald, newspaper, from October 5, 1966, headline "New Trial Granted, Ruby's Conviction Reversed," with a photograph of Jack Ruby. The headline story details how the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals unanimously overturned the murder conviction and death sentence from Ruby's 1964 murder trial and granted him the right to a new trial, to be held outside of Dallas.The front page also includes stories about and pictures of Judge Joe Brown, Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade and Ruby defense lawyer Phil Burleson. Reporters questioned Wade, who stated that he would again seek the death penalty when retrying Ruby.
