The image was taken by amateur photographers Rudy and Vera Clauss on Sunday, November 24, 1963, two days after the assassination of President Kennedy. The image shows crowds of bystanders in Dealey Plaza looking towards the Texas School Book Depository building. Several cars can be seen on Elm Street, and the Dal-Tex building is visible in the background.

After the assassination, Rudy and Vera Clauss apparently visited Dealey Plaza around noon on Saturday, November 23, where they took a series of photographs (2018.006.17 to 2018.006.24). They then returned the following afternoon on Sunday, November 24, to take additional photographs (2018.006.0025 to 2018.006.0038) as well as an 8mm home movie (2018.006.0001). -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
