Prayer card from President John F. Kennedy's funeral Mass at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on Monday, November 25, 1963. On the front of the card is a black and white photographic portrait of President Kennedy taken by Robert Knudsen. Text is printed on the back of the card. President Kennedy's name, title, and life dates are printed at the top with a simple black cross printed below. The text:"Dear God,Please take care of your servantJohn Fitzgerald Kennedy", is followed by quotes taken directly from the end of President Kennedy's inaugural address.

This prayer card was donated to the Museum by Philip Carver, Jr. His late father, Philip "Doc" Carver, served as a White House Naval Aide to President Kennedy in 1963 and was therefore invited to attend the funeral Mass at St. Matthew's Cathedral. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
