Image of Kennedy-Johnson campaign parade in Dallas, 1960

Original 120 mm black and white negative taken by The Dallas Morning News staff photographer Clint Grant. The image shows a color guard leading a parade through downtown Dallas, Texas, with Senator John F. Kennedy and Senator Lyndon B. Johnson seated on the back of a convertible, during a presidential campaign visit on September 13, 1960. Local Democratic campaign director Barefoot Sanders is seated on the side of the car next to Senator Johnson, who is waving his hat. Crowds of people line both sides of the street. The motorcade is driving south on Akard Street (possibly at the intersection with Young Street), and "The Dixie Grill" is on the left side of the image. Confetti can be seen throughout the image, on the car and in Senator Kennedy's hair.
