After Kathey Atkinson's photograph appeared on the front page of the Dallas Times Herald, the paper's managing editor Felix McKnight wrote her a letter, inviting her to visit the Times Herald offices to meet the photographer who captured her in tearful prayer outside of Parkland Memorial Hospital. At the meeting -- when this photograph was taken -- Eamon Kennedy told Kathey that she "just caught his attention." Kathey Atkinson later wrote a book called Grief of a Nation: Kathey's Story. The book is out of print but available to researchers in the Museum's Reading Room. - Mrs. Krishna Shenoy, Librarian/Archivist
