Curatorial Note:

This view of the doorway to Trauma Room One, as seen in the early 1970s shortly before it was dismantled, is similar to black and white images of the doorway taken in the immediate aftermath of the Kennedy assassination. The key difference, however, is the addition of a small padlock on the door. This lock, added some time after the assassination, was possibly installed to keep tourists or curious individuals from entering the room where President Kennedy died. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
