Image 11 from Negative Strip 4: Love Field of Governor Connally, First Lady and President Kennedy greeting the crowd
Original 35mm black and white negative taken by a Dallas Times Herald staff photographer. This image shows President Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy along with Governor John Connally greeting local dignitaries in front of Air Force One at Love Field on the morning of November 22, 1963. The tall man at far left is U.S. Attorney Barefoot Sanders. The man at right about to step onto the tarmac is President Kennedy's former campaign manager, Lawrence "Larry" O'Brien. The images on this negative strip were taken by a Dallas Times Herald staff photographer. There were three photographers at Love Field that day: John Mazziotta, Bob Jackson and Eamon Kennedy. It is not known which of the three took these pictures. The negative is on Kodak Tri-X Pan Film. This image is labeled #11 on section 2 of negative strip 4.The old TMS record for the images on this negative strip attributed the photographs to Bob Jackson. Based on research conducted by collections intern Mark Davies in June and July 2012, curatorial and collections staff concluded that this attribution cannot be proven. The attribution was changed to indicate that the photographs were taken by one of the three DTH photographers assigned to be at Love Field that morning: John Mazziotta, Eamon Kennedy or Bob Jackson.
