According to Buell Wesley Frazier, who was employed as an order filler at the Texas School Book Depository in 1963, this sign was likely at or near the "Will Call" counter on the ground floor. The counter, with a swinging half door and small bell for service, was located just inside the second set of glass doors beyond the main entrance to the building. According to Frazier, teachers, principals, and librarians would frequently stop by to pick up individual books or small book orders that were needed at their schools. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
This object was part of the Fragments special installation on the Museum's 7th floor, on view from November 3, 2021 through July 3, 2022.
