To commemorate the 61st anniversary of the Kennedy assassination, in conjunction with the seventh-floor art installation River of Time, the Museum welcomes guest speakers Dr. James Pennebaker and Dr. Toni Glover for a two-night event that examines the traumatic impact of the assassination.
Social Psychology: How the Kennedy Assassination and The Sixth Floor Museum Affected Dallas
On Tuesday, November 19, Dr. Pennebaker, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, will discuss academic studies conducted during his tenure at Southern Methodist University. Renowned for his research on the relationship between natural language use, health, and social behavior, Pennebaker focused on The Sixth Floor Museum and the psychological and emotional impact of the Kennedy assassination on Dallas.
A Child’s View of Dealey Plaza, an Evening with Dr. Toni Glover
The following evening, Wednesday, November 20, the Museum welcomes Kennedy motorcade spectator Dr. Toni Glover, who was 11 years-old in 1963. She and Curator Stephen Fagin will discuss her eyewitness account in Dealey Plaza and how the assassination affected her generation.
Guests are invited to a wine-reception nightly before each program begins.
