Original 35mm black and white negative taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer William Allen. This image shows the three arrested tramps (front to back, Harold Doyle, John Gedney, and Gus Abrams) being escorted to the Sheriff's office by Dallas Police officers, Marvin Wise in the front and Billy Bass in the rear on November 22, 1963. The negative is on Kodak Tri-X Pan Film. The image is labeled #16 on section 3 of negative strip 24.The old TMS record for the images on this negative strip indicate that the photographer was William Allen. Based on research conducted by collections intern Mark Davies in June and July 2012, curatorial and collections staff concluded that Allen did indeed take these pictures. (Lindsey Richardson, 7/24/13) Labeled H13 on contact sheets 1989.100.0065 & 1989.100.0066The three arrested tramps en route to the Sheriff's office, escorted by Marvin Wise (officer in front) and Billy Bass (in back).
