Black and white photograph of the southeast corner of the Texas School Book Depository, taken from the Elm and Houston streets intersection less than an hour after the assassination. The photographer and donor Jim Walker described this photo in a scrapbook:"Shortly after one o'clock CST the world was told the President was dead. I heard it on a small pocket size radio sitting in a Waffle House on Elm Street. This picture of the front of the School Book Depository was taken about 15 minutes after the announcement. The street was still open, no crime tape, no barricades, no investigation of the street evidence: absolutely nothing going on. There were several men in suits looking around and several policemen directing traffic but no obvious investigation."

This amateur photograph of the Texas School Book Depository was taken by Jim Walker, a mail sorter at the Terminal Annex building in Dealey Plaza. Walker took photos of the motorcade from the corner of Main and Market Street. Following the assassination, he also photographed the scene at Dealey Plaza and outside the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff. Mr. Walker, who donated all of his images to the Museum in 2006, recorded an oral history about his experiences on June 6, 2006. - Stephen Fagin, Associate Curator
