William Barry IV Oral History
Videotaped oral history interview with William Barry IV. Five years old in 1963, Barry is the son of the late William Barry III, an engineer at ABC News radio in Washington D.C. for more than thirty years. Barry III frequently visited the White House and had personal encounters with every president from Dwight Eisenhower to George H.W. Bush. In 2022, William Barry IV donated to the Museum a collection of twenty reel-to-reel audio tapes from ABC News radio in Washington D.C. covering the inauguration and assassination of President John F. Kennedy as well as the 1965 inauguration of President Lyndon Johnson. Subsequently, Mr. Barry also donated an extensive collection of material saved by his late father as chief engineer at ABC News radio in Washington D.C. related to the presidency and the U.S. Space Program. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
