Phil Johnson Oral History
Videotaped oral history interview with Phil Johnson. One of the city's earliest and most prominent gay rights activists, Johnson co-founded the first LGBTQ organization in Dallas, The Circle of Friends, in 1965. In June 1972, he helped organize and led the first Dallas Pride parade, which started at the John F. Kennedy Memorial.Interview recorded at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on October 17, 2006 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is fifty-five minutes long.

Phil Johnson passed away at the age of 94 on September 23, 2019. At the time of his death, he was described by local LGBTQ publication, the Dallas Voice, as "a legend in the North Texas LGBT community as the community's ambassador and its historian."
