To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination, the City of Dallas organizes a ceremony in Dealey Plaza that is attended by approximately 5,000 people who received their tickets via lottery. Pulitzer Prize-winning author David McCullough read a selection of Kennedy quotes while Dallas leaders, including Mayor Mike Rawlings and Rev. Zan Holmes, spoke to the assembled crowd. Public viewing locations for the ceremony were set up at the nearby American Airlines Center as well as the John F. Kennedy Memorial.
