During a routine prisoner transfer in the basement of Dallas police headquarters, nightclub owner Jack Ruby steps forward and shoots suspect Lee Harvey Oswald. The murder, broadcast live on NBC, is replayed numerous times over the next several days. Jack Ruby is immediately taken into custody.
